PrusaSlicer 3.0 Alpha 13: plugin marketplace, material database and printers from Prusa Connect
The new PrusaSlicer 3.0 alpha brings signed Lua plugins from a marketplace, a material database, SLA support and vase mode as a print goal.
Shortly after the PrusaSlicer 2.9.7 security update, Prusa released the next test version of PrusaSlicer 3.0 late on 2 November 2026. It is an alpha, intended for trying out only.
What is new
- Plugin marketplace: extensions written in Lua can be installed directly in the app. Packages are signed, and PrusaSlicer verifies signature and checksum before installing. According to Prusa, the plugin API is still experimental.
- Print goals: vase mode for all printers, soluble and breakaway supports for multi-material printers. Goals temporarily override settings and are themselves implemented as Lua plugins.
- Adding printers: every printer is now added explicitly as its own profile, optionally with an IP address.
- Prusa Connect: a dedicated tab shows the live state of connected printers and picks matching settings.
- Material database: filaments can be chosen from a database, and with a Prusa Account they can be filtered by favourites.
- SLA: profiles for the Prusa SL1 and SL1S are back.
- Also: 3D mouse support, an extruder assignment table and semi-transparent side panels.
The alpha stores its profiles in a separate folder and runs alongside PrusaSlicer 2.x without changing its settings. For everyday use, 2.9.7 remains the recommended version.
