UltiMaker Cura 5.14 is out: paint-on supports, tabbed settings, Windows on ARM
Cura 5.14 brings the beta features to the stable release, plus support reminders for severe overhangs, faster start-up and many fixes.
On 5 November, UltiMaker released the stable version Cura 5.14.0. It takes over the new features from the beta and adds a few more.
Main new features
- Paint-on supports: paint areas directly onto the model where supports should go, must not go or are generated automatically, with a slider for the overhang angle
- Tabbed settings: the settings panel is now split into tabs by default
- Windows on ARM: a separate build for laptops with ARM chips
- Preview: overhangs and bridges have their own colours
- Start and end G-code: formulas and variables are now processed by CuraEngine
- New since the beta: support reminders for severe overhangs, a configurable default save and load folder, a right-click option to show the model file’s folder, faster start-up
- New settings: including a minimum infill line length and a maximum bridge deviation
Fixes and profiles
Fixes include slicing crashes with broken or complex geometry. Grouped models in 3MF files keep their height, and the initial layer temperature now also applies to the ZigZag pattern. Profiles were updated for the UltiMaker Factor 4 and 4+, S3, S5 and S8, MakerBot Sketch Sprint, Elegoo Neptune 3 Pro and Anycubic K3 with ACE Pro. There are no new printer profiles.
