Bambu Lab: mixed nozzle size printing is coming to the H2D, H2C and X2D
What the H3C can do with Bambu Studio 2.9.1 is coming to the H2D, H2C and X2D via updates. The H2D is due at the end of November, the others from February 2027.
With the H3C, Bambu Lab introduced printing with nozzles of different sizes in one model: a small nozzle prints fine areas with thin layers, a large nozzle prints big areas with thicker layers. This saves time without losing detail. In Bambu Studio 2.9.1 this only works with the H3C so far.
According to an announcement in the Bambu forum on 3 November, the feature is coming to the dual-nozzle printers via a software update. Because each model has a different AMS setup, the slicing logic and print parameters have to be adapted for each one. Setups with the Filament Track Switch take more work.
| Printer | without Filament Track Switch | with Filament Track Switch |
|---|---|---|
| H2D | end of November 2026 | February 2027 |
| H2C | February 2027 | March 2027 |
| X2D | February 2027 | March 2027 |
Bambu Lab explicitly calls these dates estimates.
What else Bambu Studio 2.9.1 brings is covered in our article on the first H3C reviews.
