Snapmaker discontinues the 2.0, J1 and Ray: firmware fixes until 2029
Snapmaker ends production and sales of the Snapmaker 2.0, J1/J1s and Ray. Software maintenance runs until October 2028, critical firmware fixes until October 2029.
On 29 October 2026, Snapmaker moved three product lines to “End of Life”. They are no longer manufactured or actively sold through official channels. According to Snapmaker, remaining stock is still available from selected official stores and resellers while supplies last.
Which machines are affected
- Snapmaker 2.0: A150, A250, A250T, F250, A350, A350T and F350, plus the 3D printing, laser and CNC modules, the Quick Swap Kit and the Bracing Kit.
- Snapmaker J1 and J1s: the IDEX printer with two independent print heads.
- Snapmaker Ray: Ray 20W and Ray 40W, the machine body and enclosure, and the 2, 20 and 40 W laser modules.
Snapmaker says the products have reached the natural end of their production lifecycle and that it wants to focus resources on new platforms. According to the post, the U1 tool changer and the Artisan 3-in-1 machine remain in the range.
What continues for owners
Snapmaker stresses that the end of production does not mean the end of support. The commitments in detail:
| Area | Period according to Snapmaker |
|---|---|
| Software (bug fixes, compatibility) | until 29 October 2028 |
| Firmware (critical fixes, security patches) | until 29 October 2029 |
| Warranty | under the terms in effect at purchase |
| Spare parts, repairs, support | during the applicable support period, subject to parts availability |
| Manuals, downloads, documentation | remain online indefinitely |
There will be no new features or add-ons for the three lines. The dates apply to the product line and do not restart with a later purchase. Snapmaker also says it cannot guarantee compatibility with future versions of third-party slicers.
Buy spare parts early
Snapmaker itself advises owners to buy important spare parts in good time, as availability may vary by region. According to Snapmaker, the firmware source code for the J1/J1s, the 2.0 controller and modules, and the Ray is publicly available.
