Warhammer Tone Pro: new paint range with 150 paints in five tones

Games Workshop launches Warhammer Tone Pro: 30 colours with five tones each, two mediums and four new drybrushes. Pre-orders opened on 10 October 2026.

Games Workshop has a new paint range for miniatures: Warhammer Tone Pro. It has been available to pre-order since 10 October 2026. Each colour comes in five matched values, from shadow to highlight.

30 colours, five tones each

Tone Pro covers 30 colours with five tones each, 150 paints in total. The tones are numbered 1 to 5: 1 is the darkest, 5 the lightest. According to Games Workshop, there is a clear shift in value between each step.

In most colours, tone 3 is the midtone. That leaves two steps for shading and two for highlights. You do not have to base with tone 3, though: for Ultramarines, for example, Games Workshop suggests starting with Ultramar 2, shading with 1 and highlighting with 3, 4 and 5. According to the manufacturer, tones from different colours can also be combined.

Two mediums and four drybrushes

The range includes two mediums:

  • Blending Medium thins the paint without losing saturation. It is meant for soft, glazed blends.
  • Shading Medium turns any Tone Pro paint into a shade.

There are also four new drybrushes with rounded tips in sizes XS, S, M and L. They are designed to give even results when drybrushing.

Price

Games Workshop does not give a price in its announcements on Warhammer Community, nor a delivery date.
