Restoration Games and Games Workshop: Chaos in the Old World returns as Devastation in the Dread World
A multi-year licence brings back three Games Workshop board game classics in new form. First up is Chaos in the Old World with Eric Lang, crowdfunding in early 2027.
Restoration Games specialises in reworking and re-releasing older board games. Now it has signed a multi-year licensing deal with Games Workshop. The games are not set in the Warhammer universe but in Gravemarch, a new fantasy setting Restoration Games is developing for Games Workshop’s Talisman Realm brand.
The three games
- Devastation in the Dread World: a new take on Chaos in the Old World (2009). As in the original, asymmetric factions fight over territory, but scenarios replace random events. Original designer Eric Lang is involved, with Rob Daviau of Restoration Games leading design. The game goes to crowdfunding in early 2027, followed by retail. Restoration Games has not named the platform yet.
- Dungeons of Gravemarch: The Card Game: a restoration of the card game Space Hulk: Death Angel, tentatively planned for 2028
- Warrior Knights: a restoration of the 1985 game, which was already re-released in 2006, also tentatively 2028
Restoration Games has not announced prices yet. The publisher says further games in Gravemarch or elsewhere in Talisman Realm are possible.
